Abstract: The paper will review the status of the NASA's Advanced Stirling Convertor (ASC) development project which is developing the ASC for inclusion into the NASA/DOE Radioisotope Power System (RPS) Project. The ASC has demonstrated 38 per cent efficiency with a specific power of about 90 We/kg which will result in a generator (Advanced Stirling Radioisotope Generator (ASRG)) with a specific power of greater than 8 We/kg.
