The 2007 NASA Science Technology Conference (NSTC2007) was held June 19-21 at the University of Maryland University College and showcased a wide array of technology research and development related to NASA's science endeavors. The conference presented technology developments dedicated to enabling the full range of NASA science measurements – from Earth and Planetary Sciences to Heliophysics and Astrophysics.
The NSTC2007 agenda integrated nearly 140 technical papers in four parallel tracks of sessions. The plenary speaker was Dr. John Mather, NASA Senior Astrophysicist and Goddard Fellow and three luncheon talks were given by: Dr. Sridhar Anandakrishnan - Associate Professor in the Penn State Department of Geosciences; Brian McClendon - Director of Engineering for Google Earth; and Geoffrey Yoder - Senior Systems Engineer with the NASA Exploration Systems Mission Directorate. The conference also featured an evening town hall-style presentation by George Komar, the Deputy Associate Administrator for Technology within the NASA Science Mission Directorate.
Total registration reached over 500 and included a balanced cross-section of representation from various NASA centers, industry, and academia. Attendees responded positively to the proceedings and appreciated the opportunity for networking and collaboration.
