NASA's Earth Science Technology Office (ESTO) held the fourth annual Earth Science Technology Conference (ESTC), June 22 to June 24, at the Crowne Plaza Cabaña in Palo Alto, CA. Designed to showcase leading-edge technology research funded by ESTO, the conference attracted technologists, scientists, researchers and academics, as well as NASA managers and planners, from around the country.

The conference agenda included 60 technical papers presented in two parallel tracks: Information Technologies and Observation Technologies. For the presenters, the three-day conference was an opportunity to report on their research and to communicate directly with various planners and mangers that may be able to incorporate the technologies into future activities. The plenary presentation was given by G. Scott Hubbard, Director of NASA Ames Research Center, and luncheon speakers included Eng Lim Goh, Chief Technology Office at Silicon Grphics, and Carl Kesselman, Director of the Center for Grid Technologies at USC / Information Sciences Institute.
