Title of Paper: Ultra-Low Power Radiation Tolerant Reconfigurable
FPGA Technology Development
Principal Author: Mr. Earl Fuller
Abstract: On-orbit reconfigurable computing offers system
design flexibility long sought after. In addition, ultra-low power electronics
is an enabling technology for system miniaturization and thereby low cost. Two
core capabilities are being developed, namely, RT circuit technology and ULP
CMOS process technology. RT technology enables radiation tolerant CMOS
integrated circuits to be fabricated at commercial foundries. ULP process
technology allows the operation of high-performance active digital circuit at a
greatly reduced level of power, by operating with supply voltages of 0.5 volts
or less with as much as 100 times reduction in power consumption. Using
knowledge obtained from previous evaluations of SRAM-based FPGA product lines,
circuits are being developed compatible with existing FPGA software tools.
